I design and build mobile responsive and accessible websites. My focus is on simplicity and flexibility of design. A website needs to be easy to read and find your way around, whether you are using it on a smartphone, a laptop, or a high definition screen.
- A website refresh to showcase your organisation’s work to funders and service users – Saheli Asian Women’s Project
- A new information website for British Pugwash. Building a solid structure to make a wealth of project, events, publications and historical material, easy to find.
- A lottery funded project to develop a web information service for advice agencies in Stockport – Stockport Advice and Information for Life (SAIL).
WordPress and Joomla
I mostly use WordPress as the basis for a website. It’s open source and mainstream, and is perfect for starting small, and adding functionality when needed. Services like membership, donations or shopping carts (like Woo Commerce), can be added. Integrating social media and key web services is straightforward. I also use Joomla content management system where there is a lot of information that needs organising into a solid structure. For web hosting, I use Krystal, who have UK-based servers.
A structured website built on WordPress or Joomla, with several content sections, taxonomies, multiple menus and features, will cost from £1500.
Beforehand, I will work with you to explore your goals and ideas for the website. This can be as formal or informal a process as works best for you. I will explore what needs to be done with you and prepare a detailed quote. We can agree to a price and a payment plan. I will then design and build a first draft of the website. I will get it up and running on my development space as soon as possible. We can then explore and test out the site as it is developed. When the site goes live, I will provide the necessary documentation, printed user guides, 1-1 and formal training as needed. I will also provide support and maintenance for the first year.
